Rambling about Dreamwidth & my want to make new friends
Dreamwidth really is the best website for me. I mean there's a lot that can't be done on here, but there's so much that I do like that it totally makes up for it...
Journalling websites are probably my thing in general, I think. That's where the pretty big difference between most of the other websites people find themselves on: twitter, instagram, tumblr, spacehey, plurk, mastodon, misskey, none of them are like Dreamwidth! Tumblr's the closest in some ways, but still so different in others. LiveJournal is basically the same website but older and worse (the latter is not caused by the former.) Dreamwidth really is the best website (for me).
There is... a bit of a problem though...
It's a double edged sword that this website is so unpopular. Like, sure, I struggle to find any community of people with shared interests on this website, I can easily do that on tumblr and twitter, but that isn't my priority right now so it doesn't bother me that much. I don't need my primary website to be a place I'm constantly finding new people to talk to on. I don't!
What I need is a place I can be myself, and Dreamwidth is that place for me. Yes, I'm lonely, but what I lack is not friends, it's time spent with my currently existing ones!
I do... I do want to make new friends on here though. Even if it's harder to find others with similar interests, I think it could be nice... If I just keep being myself and having fun by myself and talking about the things I like, surely someone will want to talk to me, right? I just got to keep being myself, and... and maybe if I get better at writing fanfiction people will want to talk to me about my fan fictions? I think that could be a viable way to make new fandom friends...
Haaah... Ah well. Life goes on no matter what. I'll just keep writing my journal entries and... when I get more confident I might start commenting on other people's journals. New friendship will come one day, and until then I'll appreciate the time I spend with my current friends, online and offline both.

Ah! Hello there! Thanks for commenting on my journal :). Welcome to Dreamwidth! If you need any help figuring out the website I know a few resources that teach how to use the website if you'd like to see those.
As for the fandoms I'm apart of!
I like reading manga (comics in general) :) My favorite manga is a supernatural comedy called Yohaji about a human descendant of a famous exorcist teaching at a hidden school for youkai. The comedy mainly comes from the ridiculous main character, he's a bit of a perverted wimp but he cares deeply for his students and the youkai and people around him, and that gets him into a lot of adventures.
I'm willing to read basically any genre if it's in comic form, but I have a special love for comedy as a genre. Even if whatever new things I've been introduced to are not comics, I usually go for the comedic option over a non-comedic option when given a choice.
Other than manga there's a lot of other things I like! I'll the major ones I'm currently fond of, just stuff I've spent time thinking about within the last month (if I listed everything that interested me, we'd be here for weeks)
Here's the list with a description of the story of each piece of media
A fairytale fantasy type story of a duck turning into a girl turning into a magical ballet princess to save the Prince whose heart/soul has shattered into many pieces that she must collect. Duck has many opponents to defeat to do that though, including the "writer" of their "story" himself.
After WW3, Japan is taken over by an all-female terrorist group that restructures society to have women be the ones in power. The story follows groups of men from across Japan who battle in state sanctioned rap battles using magical microphones so they can gain power and resources for the regions they live in.
Upon his sudden death, a young man named Shen Yuan is transported from his world of modern day China to the world of the power fantasy revenge novel he was an anti-fan of during his life. His problem? The body he's taken over is of Shen Qingqiu, the abusive master the revenge seeking protagonist Luo Binghe was a disciple to in his youth, and if things go as they did in the original story, Shen Yuan will be chopped into pieces by the protagonist.
Maomao is the daughter of a commoner apothecary, and an apothecary in her own right. One day while gathering medicinal herbs she's kidnapped and sold to the highest bidder, the Emperor's palace. She's put to work as a servant for the Emperor's harem, but when she decides to do a good deed by sending a message to two prominent consorts telling them why exactly their babies are dying, she catches their attention. All too quickly Maomao finds herself caught up in all sorts of palace intrigue. With members of the Emperor's court, and even the Emperor himself paying attention to her, there's no way Maomao will be able to just go home when her two year servant contract's up now.
In a vaguely European setting lives Constance Grail, a 16 year old noble girl who's found herself being haunted by the ghost of the wrongfully executed Scarlett Castiel, the former fiancee to the kingdom's crown prince. The manga revolves around Constance's attempts to navigate noble social circles while searching for the answer to why, how, and who sent Scarlett to the executioner's axe.
A visual novel gacha game set in modern day Japan that follows a wide cast of teenage idols attending the performing arts high school Yumenosaki Academy.
The story of a war that tore a continent apart and the year leading up to it's start.
(spoiler-free summary for the first game) 9 people find themselves kidnapped Christmas Eve. When they wake up they realize they're on a sinking ship, and they are told they have 9 hours to escape the ship before they all drown.
I like other things but those are just the fandoms I've been involved in this month, so they're the most relevant ones currently.
BTW I looked at your profile, and I'm assuming you listed your major interests that your fond of talking about there? I don't talk much about Star Wars anymore, but I did used to be big fan of the franchise. What's your favorite piece of Star Wars media? Personally, A New Hope is my favorite of the movies, but I don't exactly remember why I liked it as much as I did (maybe that's a sign to rewatch it, haha!)
